Pisces | a Poem by Alex Bygrave

there’s lightning in the sky but it isn’t storming and my yiayia says that means Zeus is using his lightning bolts to keep the great storm monster Typhon at bay.

my 16-year-old self wants to know if it would matter if Typhon broke loose and crashed into him at eighty miles an hour

he hopes one day to go down to the river and have lightning strike twice – once to kill, and once to change into a fish so he can swim away.

but he also doesn’t know how to be vulnerable and i don’t know how to tell him that Typhon isn’t the monster he should be afraid of.
